MFi Certified 3rd Party USB-C to Lightning Cable Coming Q1 2019

According to ZMI sources, Apple is finally making its C94 Lightning connector module available to 3rd-party accessory vendors. The part is the key component for making the USB-C to Lightning cable required for fast charging iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, XS, XS Max, and XR. The cable also enables fast-charging of USB PD capable iPad Pros launched before 2018.

The official Apple cables are currently sold for $19 (1 m cable) and $35 (2 m cable) on Apple's website and brick-and-mortar stores. With 3rd-party vendors joining the game, functionally equivalent and more affordable alternatives will soon be available to consumers.

By our estimate, MFi Certified 3rd Party USB-C to Lightning cables will likely hit the market late February and early March.
